Introduction
With over 20 years' experience dedicating to the entertainment industry, Andy Lau, an accomplished actor and singer, has starred in more than 120 films. He started his career in 1981 when recruited by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). The continuous and extensive exposure to cameras has assisted him in expertising his acting skills, which in return has earned him a high reputation throughout Asia.

Major Achievement in Film

Andy's endeavors in and enthusiasm for acting were recognized when he was nominated for the Best New Artist in the Hong Kong Film Awards in 1982.

In 2000 & 2001, he was honored the Best Actor in the Hong Kong Film Awards & the Golden Bauhinia Awards. This has helped solidifying his place in the industry.

In 2003 his deeply touching performance in "Infernal Affairs III" gave him his first Golden Horse Best Actor Award.

In 2006, Andy was named "Asian Filmmaker of the Year" at the Pusan International Film Festival for his contributions in the film industry and efforts in promoting new Asian film talents.

In 2007, Andy was honored the "Nielsen Box Office Star" of the Asian Film Awards organized by the 31st Hong Kong International Film Festival.

In 2008, Andy was honored the "Best Supporting Actor" of the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards for his outstanding performance in "Protege".


Major Achievement in Music
Aside from his film career, Andy has made a phenomenal impact on Asia's music scene. Since his debut album in 1985, he has recorded and released various albums in Hong Kong, Taiwan and a host of other countries in Asia. He has won numerous music awards including but not limited to "Most Popular Male Singer" for 6 years and "Most Popular Male Singer in Asia Pacific" for 9 years. He also filled the stadiums with over 250 concert shows around the world.

Other Achievement
In 1994, Andy established the "Andy Lau Charity Foundation Limited" which is focused on supporting people in need and to promote a wide range of youth education services etc.
His continuous endeavors and commitment to the community was recognized when he was honored the "Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award" in 1999. In the next year, Andy was awarded the "Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World", the 3rd person from Hong Kong being bestowed this distinguished honor.

In 2004, his tremendous contributions and perseverance he had been demonstrating gained himself the "Medal of Honor" by the Government of the HKSAR.

In 2006, in recognition of Andy's outstanding achievements and distinguished services to the performing arts, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts has conferred on him the award of "Honorary Fellowship".

In 2008, Andy had been appointed by the Government of the HKSAR as "Justice of the Peace" in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the promotion of the film industry and outstanding services to the community.
